Introduced
Marine Pest Port Survey reports, Marine
Park Biodiversity Survey reports, and the Foreshore
Mapping report are available below
Aquenal produces detailed reports on the findings of marine and
freshwater biology studies, environmental impact assessments and
other surveys performed in Tasmania and study areas further afield.
We maintain a library of reports produced for clients and developed
through other research projects. Many reports are confidential to
clients, although findings of impact studies are frequently reported
in Development Proposals and Environmental Management Plans (DPEMPs),
Integrated Impact Statements (IISs), Environmental
Effects Statements (EESs) and other documents developed by clients
for public
viewing.
Links are provided below to introduced marine pest and marine
park biodiversity survey reports that have been released publicly,
as
well as to the recently completed foreshore mapping report.
Marine pest surveys
Surveys of introduced marine pests performed as part of the National
Baseline Ports Survey Program, the latter administered by Commonwealth
authorities, are available after a confidentiality period has
elapsed. This program is aimed at mapping introductions of exotic
species,
identifying risks to Australian marine environments and, ultimately,
at improving national quarantine barriers. It is therefore beneficial
that results of these surveys are shared at both national and
international levels. Click on the links below to access reports
(note that the
Port of Hobart and Port of Burnie reports have each been divided
into two parts - Parts A and B - due to the large sizes of these
documents):

Marine
Park biodiversity surveys
Marine Park biodiversity monitoring surveys are another growing
area of our work and have been performed for marine park authorities
and associated management bodies. Reports from these surveys are
utilised in the management of marine areas and are usually released
as public literature.

Foreshore Mapping
The report detailing the assessment and mapping of foreshore values,
condition and pressures in the Southern Natural Resource Management
Region (link below) accompanies a series of electronic mapping layers
which can be viewed under the Natural Environment (Coastal Values)
category on the Land Information System Tasmania (LIST) website (http://www.thelist.tas.gov.au/),
or requested from the Coastal and Marine Branch, Environment Division,
Department of Environment, Parks, Heritage and the Arts (coastal.enquiries@environment.tas.gov.au).
